With the growing economic crisis, impacting every Bay Area city and county, Local 21 needs an experienced and proven leadership team. This team must swiftly network and collaborate with Union officers, staff, chapters, members, labor organizations, city departments and elected officials---to mitigate declining revenues, frozen state/ federal funding, losses in financial markets, rising interest costs on debt obligations and budget shortfalls. These are stressful times, requiring level-headed professionals who have records of accomplishments for Local 21---recently and over many years. This team includes Treasurer Willie Lim, who has stabilized Local 21's finances and helped build an unprecedented financial strength. Now, these financial resources need to be wisely steered for job preservation, wage/benefit protection, retention of in-house work, expanded professional opportunities, contract negotiations, political alliances and advocacy for members' interests |
